International Samuel has acquired a 50% interest in 80,915.27 hectares strategically located in the historic and prolific Flin Flon mining camp. Over the past 75 years, 27 significant mineral deposits have been continuously discovered in the area, the most recent of which is the HudBay Lalor Lake property with 20 million tonnes of 8.8 % zinc.
When VMS Ventures announced compelling drill results including an intercept of 10.36% Copper over 33.46 metres (120 feet) the Company was in the enviable position of being able to position themselves with property that is contiguous to the north, west, and south of the property hosting this discovery.
In April 2008, the Company completed a 3,300 line kilometre VTEM (Geotech) airborne electromagnetic survey. The VTEM survey system has proved to be one of the industry's best airborne, deep-penetrating electromagnetic systems. The survey is used to search for basement conductors and resistivity lows that reflect volcanic massive sulphide mineralization.
Interpretation of the VTEM geophysical data has led to an area of extreme interest just to the south-west of the VMS discovery. In March 2010 a follow-up ground 31.2 line kilometre “Large Loop Time Domain EM” survey (Crone) over this area of interest was completed and this newly compiled data has been merged with the VTEM interpration to assist in proposed drill collar locations. The Crone “EM” system was the same one used in 2007 by HudBay Minerals to discover the Lalor Lake deposit.
Based on the interpration of these surveys the Company has made this area the number one priority target for future exploration.
Drill permits have been issued and the Company will drill two top priority conductive targets identified by the Large Loop Time Domain EM and VTEM surveys. The exploration program will consist of up to 1500 metres of drilling and is being planned to estimated depths of 200-400 metres and is expected to commence in early April 2010. |
